What is Broadway Beginners?

July 8-12 (age 9-13)

LMproject’s Broadway Beginners Workshop is designed for young performers who are interested in learning the different skills that make up Broadway. This workshop also features activities that are designed by our experienced and enthusiastic staff specifically to create well-rounded young performing artists. We offer Musical Theater, Dance (jazz, technique class, tap–optional),Voice, Stage Combat, Basic Movement for Beginners, Acting & Improv, and more!

The week ends with a friends and family performance on Friday evening so you can see your child shine with all the material they learned over the week!

Before and After Care

Our daily program will run from 9:00am – 5:00pm. There will be additional programming offered from 8:00am-9:00am and 5:00pm – 6:30pm. Programming will consist of dance and drama games, technical theatre opportunities, movies, and snack (for the afternoon session only).

Educational Programming

Every day after lunch we will have a 45 minute educational workshop. We will focus on basic theater knowledge, and performance skills. We will also be holding a workshop on auditioning with Brian Collier, Dance Supervisor for Mary Poppins (Broadway and National Tour).

Technique Classes

Throughout the week, students will participate in basic movement, theater jazz, stretching, hip hop, stage combat, acting and improvisation, and musical theater technique classes. These technique classes provide the dancers a stronger base for continued growth and artistic development.

Workshop & Performance

Dancers will spend two periods each day in workshop classes. These workshop classes will draw from what they are learning and reviewing in their technique classes. The two workshop performance pieces will allow them to rehearse two dance numbers and any other numbers being performed on Friday afternoon for family and friends.
